The original intro for the dub featured clips from the first Japanese ending Aim to Be a Pokémon Master (めざせポケモンマスター). The clips were adapted and reordered for the dub but both openings consist of many of the same clips from the original anime series. The opening lasts approximately 1 minute.
The intro starts off in outer space as Mew and Mewtwo fly by. The next sequence shows as close up of Ash as it fades and zooms out to show that he is standing the the middle of a large empty stadium. The capturing of Ash's Bulbasaur is shown as quick clip of Ash is shown right after looking excited and pleased with himself. A scene of Haunter licking Charmander is shown right after.
Ash throws a Poké ball towards the screen as it transitions to a field with Ash and Pikachu running beside an Archanine. They are then joined by a Rapidash which jumps into the air and an Zapdos and Articuno are seen flying in the air near it.
Ash and Pikachu are then seen on a Lapras traveling on the sea as Gyarados and Dragonair jumping out of the water. Misty and Brock make a brief appearance beside Ash as the friends are grouped together for the shot which is then followed by a similarly setup shot of Team Rocket grouped together. Gary smiles as he has a quick cameo appearance.
Charizard, Blastoise and Venasaur are quickly seen as Ash and Pikachu come on screen. Lass, a trainer from the games, makes a brief cameo in the opening as Ash's Pikachu run in between her legs. Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, Professor Oak and Ash's mom Delia Ketchum are also shown right after.
The final sequence of starts off with Charizard using Flamethrower directed at Ash as he jumps out of the way behind a rock. The next clip shows Squirtle running up to Ash in a field as it jumps into his arms and Ash gives him a hug. Ash throws a Poké ball towards the screen again and the Pokémon logo appears.

On July 23rd, 2016, Jason Paige went back into the studio to sing the Pokémon theme, 18 years after he first recorded it. After 18 years the singer of the Original Pokemon Theme Song appears in the studio to give the Poke-fans a face to the musical voice of their childhoods.
Real Japanese Pokemon singer "Rica Matsumoto" sings an English Pokemon theme song!
On June 4th, 2022, singer Hideaki Takatori with his band "ZETKI" and Rica Matsumoto sang the original English Pokémon theme and posted the video to his YouTube account. Rica Matsumoto is the Japanese voice actress of Satoshi (Ash Ketchum) and the Japanese Pokémon Theme Song Singer!
