The English dub narrator states that Ash and his friends have arrived in the Safari Zone but the Japanese narrator states that they are still heading towards the Safari Zone. The English dub narrator also doesn't say anything about the jungle that they are currently in like the Japanese narrator states.

In PM33, the narrator mentions that Satoshi has arrived in the Safari Land and the preview for PM34 has Satoshi talk about how he's in the Safari Land several times but nowhere in the actual episode does any character use the name Safari Land.

Narrator English Dub: After crossing the grassland, our heroes find themselves in the Safari Zone where wild Pokémon roam free, just waiting to be captured.
Narrator Japanese: Heading towards the Pokémon smörgåsbord, the Safari Zone, Satoshi and his friends have crossed the great grasslands, and set foot into a thick jungle.

02:13

Script Error

Moments earlier, Takeshi and Brock both state that they might still be in a Pokémon reserve. Junsa confirms that they are still in a 'Pokémon reserve' but Officer Jenny states that they are in a 'national Pokémon preservation area'. Junsa says nothing about it being 'national'.

Jenny: This is a national Pokémon preservation area.
Junsa: This area is a Pokémon reserve.

03:19

Script Error

Apparently Meowth in the English dub believes the Team Rocket motto is poetry. Nyarth just says its the wrong time to be trying to act cool.

Mewoth: While you 2 are standing around reciting poetry,
Nyarth: This isn't the time to be acting cool!

03:27

Script Error

A few moments later, Jessie also believes the motto is a poem. Musashi though says they cannot get into the mood of capturing Pokémon unless they state their motto.

Jessie: We have to say our poem, or it just doesn't feel right.
Musashi: We can't get into the mood without doing this.

03:52

Script Error

The English dub dex entry states that Kangaskhan live in the Safari Zone. The Zukan states that they live around the Safari Zone and other areas.

Dex: Once approaching extinction, they are now protected by law and inhabit the Safari Zone. Approach with extreme caution.
Zukan: While they were in danger of extinction once, they were put under protection and are now living around the Safari Zone and other areas.

05:41

Script Error

Musashi is very mad that someone injured her face which means her life to her as a supposed actress. Jessie doesn't say anything about being or wanting to be an actress.

Jessie: Who did that, who's out there?
Musashi: Who was it? To an actress, her face is her life!

07:01

Culture Reference

Taro's father is allegedly based on Bakabon-Papa (バカボンパパ) from the Tensai Bakabon (天才バカボン) series. Likewise, the swirls on Taro and his father's faces are a reference to the swirls on Bakabon and Hajime's faces.
07:16

Script Error

Papa asks if Officer Jenny is a ranger in the Safari Zone. Papa thinks that he is also in the Safari Zone in the English dub.

Papa English: Greetings. Please excuse the noise. Are you the Safari Zone Pokémon ranger?
Papa Japanese: Hey, we seem to have troubled you. Are you the Pokémon guardian here?

07:30

Script Error

Jenny then confirms moments later that the location they are at in the English dub is the Safari Zone by adding additional dialog that Junsa did not have in the Japanese original.

Jenny: Your son, Tommy, is here in the Safari Zone?
Junsa: Your son, Taro-kun?

08:29

Script Error

Papa states that Mama should have held Tommy in the English dub. Papa in the Japanese original though believes Taro is dead. Mama gets mad at Papa in the English dub for him trying to blame her while Mama in the Japanese original doesn't like the fact that Papa thinks Taro is dead.

Character English Translation Japanese
Papa Maybe, if you had been holding him, this wouldn't have happened. Surely, Taro became a star in the sky.
Mama It's your fault! No, he didn't!

08:55

Script Error

Yet again, the English dub has a character pointing out that they are in the Safari Zone. Mama in the Japanese original did not state their location.

Mama English: Then, someone sent us a picture of a young boy who leads a huge pack of Kangaskhan here in the Safari Zone.
Mama Japanese: But recently, someone's told us about a boy who could control a herd of Garura and sent us a picture of him.

09:14

Script Error

Junsa specifically calls Taro 'Tarsan' but the English dub changed it to Tomo. Obviously this was done to avoid any legal repercussions.

Jenny: Oh, you mean Tomo. You won't have to look far.
Junsa: Oh, that's Tarsan. There's no need to search for him.

11:05

Scene Cut

The English dub cut out a scene that had Taro zooming in and starring at Kasumi's breasts.
11:11

Script Error

The English dub removes any sexual references to breastfeeding that were in the Japanese original.

Character English Translation Japanese
Tommy You people or Pokémon? Can I suck breasts?
Misty I'm a person, you creep! How did that end up being your answer?!

11:34

Script Error

The English dub removes any sexual references to breastfeeding that were in the Japanese original. The English dub replaces it with Tommy being rude still and wondering if his parents are 'peoples' or Pokémon.

Character English Translation Japanese
Tommy They Pokémon or peoples? Can I suck breasts?
Misty Their peoples-- uh, people. That's not it...!

13:40

Culture Reference

In the original, Takeshi quotes the Japanese idiom "The foster parent is dearer than the birth parent" (生みの親より育ての親), meaning that a child feels greater connection to those who raised it than those who gave it birth, and that it is how you are raised that shapes you as a person, rather than who your parents are.

The dub handles the line very well and gets the correct connotations necessary for the scene across.

Brock: Sometimes, the real parent's the one who raises you, but this is a real unusual situation.
Takeshi: They say "The foster parent is dearer than the birth parent", but wouldn't the birth parent be the better choice in this case?

14:43

Script Error

Mama in the Japanese original realizes that her son has really turned into 'Tarsan'. Mama in the English dub once again doesn't mention 'Tarsan'. Mama in the Japanese original also points out that the large Garura is his mama now but Mama in the English dub just states that the Kangaskhan group is his parents.

Mama English: Tommy must feel that those Kangaskhan are his real parents after all. He's completely turned into Tomo.
Mama Japanese: Garura really is the real mama to Taro now.

17:51

Paint Edit

Kojiro pulls a rope with a sign down that says "Finishing Punch" (必殺パンチ) in the Japanese original. In the English dub, the sign is blank.
19:03

Culture Reference

In the English dub, Mama sings the Brahms's Lullaby with her own lyrics. In the Japanese original, Mama just sings like a Garura.

♪ Go to sleep ♪
♪ and goodnight ♪
♪ You are my little Tommy ♪
20:19

Culture Reference

In the original, Taro's father ends the episode with the line Kore de ii no desu (これでいいのです "It'll be all right!"), a more polite form of Bakabon-papa's catchphrase Kore de ii no da (これでいいのだ).

Tommy's father: I guess... Like son, like father.
Taro's father: It'll be all right!

20:21

Script Error

The Japanese narrator specifically states that Satoshi and his friends are heading to the Safari Zone now. The English dub skips the next episode though.

Narrator English: But now, our heroes journey on, eager for more new adventures and more new Pokémon.
Narrator Japanese: With that, he and his friends head closer and closer to the Pokémon smörgåsbord, the Safari Zone.

I didn't remember the child's parent being that weird... actually, I had forgotten how weird this episode actually was.
I'd love to know how the infamous 'Can I suck breasts' was translated in the dub versions of this episode.

And looks like the next episode is one of the infamous banned episodes... it'll be the first time I get to watch it! :p
